DeMario Takes On A New Career and New Found Hope

For DeMario, transportation has been more than a way to get from place to place—it’s been a critical part of rebuilding his life. After experiencing the devastating loss of both his job and housing, DeMario began the difficult journey of starting over, working to build a new future through workforce training and career development.

Through the Catch a Ride Network’s Mobility Wallet program, sponsored by Detroit LISC, Michigan Clean Cities, and Michigan Department of Transportation, DeMario has been able to reliably access workforce development programs, technical training, job readiness appointments, grocery stores, study spaces, and essential support services across Detroit. When public transit sometimes has long travel times and time-sensitive opportunities can’t wait, having flexible transportation options has made all the difference.

Today, DeMario is pursuing training in data analytics through NPower Michigan , building a new career path with growing confidence and opportunity As he shared, “I feel like I am no longer stalled—I am in motion.”
